Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette Review and Swatches

I have to admit, I wasn't an easy decision to purchase this palette. The price alone is enough to put you off. However as an avid eyeshadow lover, I decided that I needed this in my collection. The colours are just too beautiful and the textured shadows intrigued me, I had to try it out. I thought as this was such an expensive buy, I would let you know my thoughts as to whether this palette lives up to the hype.

To look at, this palette is absolutely stunning. The gorgeous rose golds hues, different shades of brown and even a deep cranberry colour. The pigmentation is also incredible, as you can see from the swatches below. The only thing that worried me was that the textured colours didn't look how I expected. They seemed to be just flecks of shadow and I instantly thought these were going to be hard to apply.

When I first used this palette, I was surprised at how blend-able the colours were, you can really notice the great quality shadows. With the textured shadows, I applied it with the fingers. I do have to say, it did get a bit messy. There was quite a lot of fallout onto my face, so I would advise you do your base after your eyes to avoid this happening. The textured shadows weren't bad, but they weren't as pigmented as I thought they would be. To really get the full effect of these shadows, you need to apply a few layers and really pack it on. But these results are S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G. I would advise you use your fingers, as even a wet brush struggles to pick up the shadow.

Overall this palette is very versatile. You could keep it simple and use the matte shades for a day to day look, or go full glam with the textured shadows. I'm not sure I can justify paying that price for it (£56.00) as I am sure there are some affordable dupes out there, but it is a very beautiful palette and I will definitely get some use out of it.

The Ordinary - Full Coverage Foundation and Primer Review

I stumbled across these products as I was browsing on Cult Beauty, looking for a new foundation. I was so shocked at the affordable price, I had to give it a try. While I was at it, I thought I should get the primer as well to see how the two worked as a combo.

The Foundation

When I first tried this foundation, I used a buffing brush to apply it. I have to say, that didn't work for me. I was left with streaks across my face and had to reach for my makeup sponge to fix things. When everything was blended I could see that it wasn't very full coverage, more of a medium coverage foundation. That may have been down to using a makeup sponge, but I could still see some redness on my face. The finish is slightly matte, but also slightly dewy. It looks lovely on the skin, I even got compliments whilst wearing it! But I will say it sometimes clings to my drier patches, you definitely need to use a primer or at least a moisturiser if you do suffer from dry skin.

The Primer

One thing I will say about this primer, is that it is very watery. It has a pipette applicator, however it usually just drips everywhere off of the sides so you don't actually need to squeeze any product out. That aside however, this primer will make your skin feel seriously smooth.. like seriously. It fills in my pores nicely and leaves a nice base for the foundation. Again, it is slightly drying, so make sure to moisturise beforehand. I don't usually reach for primer when doing my makeup, but since I have been using this I have noticed a real difference in the longevity of my foundation.

Overall, I love these products as a duo. They work like a dream together. Not only are they affordable, but they actually do the job. I'm not sure whether I will be going back to using my high-end foundation anytime soon.

The Ordinary also do some skincare that I think I need to try. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Friction Free Shaving Subscription Service - Review

This is the start of a new era for me... an era of shaving. I mean it isn't like I don't shave my legs at all, just not as often as I probably should. Well, let me tell you that is in the past. I came across an advert for a monthly subscription box for razors. I'm not gonna lie when I say I was mainly drawn to it by the colour (its rose gold 😍). But it seemed like a pretty good idea, so I decided to give it a go.

What is it?

Friction Free Shaving (FFS) is a subscription box where you get 4 razor blade cartridges (and optional shaving foam) delivered to your door monthly. The subscription that I chose was the 'Rose' razor, it has 6 blades plus a bikini blade on the top for the hard to reach places. This one cost me £9.00, however I found a discount code online which made it £6.75 in total. I recommend looking for discount codes, however I think it may just be for your first order. Speaking of discount codes, everyone gets their own to share with family and friends, they get 25% off. Mine is 0Y92YP (in case you were wondering).

There is also another razor called 'Frankie' which is slightly cheaper, at £5.00 a month you may want to go for this option if you don't want to spend as much on a razor.

The good thing about this is, you can pause your subscription if you find out you have enough blades, and don't want to pay out for another month. This was quite important to me as I don't want to be shelling out unnecessarily.

Performance

I have to say, this beats my normal disposable razor by far, I shaved my legs 2 days ago and they still feel so so smooth! It probably has something to do with the amount of blades it has. My normal razors usually have 4 or 5, so it really does make the difference. I didn't get any cuts and the razor glided on my legs smoothly, it was a good shave.

Overall

I have to say, I do think this is good value for money, a good quality razor and blades for £9.00 a month. I have to say, I don't think I will need to get blades cartridges every month as I think 4 will last me quite a while. I personally didn't opt for the £6.00 shaving foam, as I did find that a bit pricey to pay out for every month. You can get a cheaper one in Boots or Superdrug.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed! Let me know your thoughts in the comments, do you think its worth it?

xo, Bethy

Birchbox Review - July 2017

Hello Everyone!

It's that time of the month again when a new Birchbox is sent out and we all wait in anticipation to see what we will receive this month... and hope its not another hand cream or dry shampoo.

This month I am pleasantly surprised with what I received and if you would like to have a peek, keep on reading.

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Whish - Renewing Mud Mask

I do love a good mud mask, my favourite at the moment is the Pixi Glow Mud Mask. I will happily give this a try and see how well it works with my skin.

Cocofina - Coconut Oil

This product claims to do a lot of thing i.e hair mask, face mask etc. But I am not actually sure what I am going to use this for yet. I am scared that it might make my hair/skin oily but I guess I will have to try it to see!

Percy & Reed - Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery

This product would be great for people who shower and wash their hair in the morning as you put the product on your hair the night before, sleep then wash off in the morning. The only problem is that I shower on a night. My hair takes ages to dry so I don't really have time on a morning, but I am sure I will get to use it at some point.

Rituals - Hammam Delight Foaming Shower Gel

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. This is the only product I have used everyday since getting this box. It feels so luxurious and smells so good! It makes me feel like i'm at a spa.

Balance Me - Flash Cleanse Micellar Water

I have used this product once and lets just say I won't be reaching for it again any time soon... It isn't great at removing eye makeup. After taking my makeup off with this, jumped in the shower, I came out looking like a panda. I certainly wouldn't pay £16 for it!

Benefit Cosmetics - Chachatint Lip & Cheek Stain

I have one thing to say about this product... pigmentation! You only need to use a little bit as a little goes a long way! I made the mistake of putting too much on the first time I tried it and I looked like I was sunburnt. However the colour is gorgeous and when used sparingly, it gives a pretty flush of colour.

That is it for today's post, I hoped you enjoyed and this gave you an insight on what you would get if you ordered this months Birchbox. Let me know what your favourite product in your box was and if you have any recommendations for other beauty boxes, I am always open to change!

Thank you for reading and I will see you next time.

My New Bag & Purse: Ted Baker

Hello Everyone,

Today I am going to show you one of my most exciting purchases for a long time... I got a new bag! I am in love with every aspect of it, the colour, the size, the shape. It is my dream bag. I can't tell you how long I have been wanting a Ted Baker bag. I fell in love with a black and rose gold one but sadly they discontinued it.

I went into House of Fraser just to have a browse, and then I saw it THERE WAS A SALE! The Ted Baker bags were on sale and I was trying to decide between a black one and this one. I chose this one as the colour was just stunning and it would go with most of my outfits. Of course I had to look for a matching purse, I actually saw this purse on the flight duty free on the way back from holiday but luckily I waited until I got back as it was cheaper in store!

I think the bag was around £110.00, however I saw it reduced to £80 in store yesterday! The purse was around £50.00 I think but I can't seem to find them online, they were probably discontinuing them, hence they were in the sale. I am very happy with my new purchase and I am hoping this bag is going to last me a very long time!

Thank you for reading. Also side note, I can't believe I have reached 300 followers on Twitter! Thank you so much for the support, I love following bloggers so feel free to leave your twitter below so I can check it out!

What I Wore On My Holiday - Kos

Hey everyone,

I am writing this as I have just come back from a holiday in the beautiful Kos and I thought I would show you what I wore on some of the days. It was nice to get into summer clothes instead of being stuck in big jumpers like I am in the UK. No doubt I probably won't wear these again until I go on holiday next year!

White Crop Top - Topshop - (Similar)
Sandels - Primark
Sunglasses - Primark

I wore this outfit on the first day as we were walking around a lot and discovering the hotel so I wanted to be super comfy!

Dress - Shein
Backpack - Primark
Sandels - Primark

I wore this outfit on an evening for dinner as there was a dress code (little did I know at the time it only applied to men) so I wanted to wear something a bit smarter but still keep cool. I am really impressed by this dress as I ordered it from Shein (an online company based in China) and the quality is really good! I do think you need to look at the reviews for the item of clothing before you buy, as it seems to be a bit hit and miss.

White Patterned Top - Boohoo
Bralette - Primark
Shorts - Primark
Flipflops - Primark

On this day we were mostly walking on the beach and we also rented some bikes to ride down to the town. I have to say these shorts probably weren't the best choice for bike riding, but hey it looked cute.

Sandels - Primark
Backpack - Primark

On this day we went on an excursion, a tour of the island. We went all around the island and I wanted a cute outfit as I knew there was going to be lots of photo ops! Also I think this has to be my most favourite top that I wore, I just love the colour!

Thank you for reading! I would just like to do a shoutout to my boyfriend for taking these pictures and being very patient whilst doing so :')

Birchbox Review - March 2017

Hey everyone,

As I am new to subscription boxes I thought I would show you what I received in my first Birchbox, hopefully it will help some of you that are on the fence about trying one. Whether or not they are worth the hype.

*WARNING - CONTAINS SPOILERS

This is an overview of what I received, 5 samples and 1 extra full size nail polish with the retail price of £19.00!! This box cost me £12.95 alone so that seems like a pretty good deal. I also feel like the testers inside are perfect if you are going travelling, they are a convenient size and great if you would like to try something new.

I absolutely love this colour! Not to mention this is only one coat. It is very easy to apply, I know that is hard to believe considering the shocking application but believe me it could be a lot worse 😂 .

I am not very keen on receiving shower gels as samples as they usually don't end up getting used. However as I am going to Greece later in the year, I figured this would be good to take with me, very aptly named and in a handy travel size.

I don't use eye make-up remover products as I prefer to remove all my make-up at once and save the hassle. However, it claims to remove long-wearing make-up and so I will be interested to give it a go.

I have been needing a new primer for ages, and I think it is safe to say this was a Godsend. That might be bit of an exaggeration but I have been wanting to try a new one. This one claims to minimise pores, which is a must for me when it comes to primers. However in comparison to the size of the tube, there doesn't seem to be much product inside.

This product intrigued me when I saw it was a dry shampoo and conditioner in one. I didn't even know such a thing existed! I tried it on my second day hair and I do have to say I could see a difference. My hair didn't feel as dry and powdery as it usually does when I use dry shampoo. That is obviously where the conditioner part comes it. Also the fragrance is absolutely gorgeous, I think it is safe to say I will be purchasing the full size.

Lastly, the star of the show, the new Benefit lipstick and lipliner all in one! I was so excited to try this as I had heard very good things, however when I put it on my lips I was surprised by the colour, it was a very bright pink. I couldn't really see the lipliner part, and I wasn't very keen on the scent. But it did stay on all day! It was a real struggle trying to get that swatch off my hand. Maybe if I had a different colour I might have a better opinion.

That is it for what I got in my Birchbox. I have to say I was a bit dubious as I had heard mixed reviews. However I was pleasantly surprised and I think I am going to carry on with the subscription for now to see what else they have in store. Let me know if you received this months Birchbox and what your favourite product was in the comments!
